Sukja Bang, Pastor
Thank you for visiting our website! I am excited to have this opportunity to invite you to worship with us and join us in the ministries and missions God has entrusted to us. When you come visit us, you will find why I am excited about our congregation. We as a church live out our motto, “Open hearts, open minds, open doors,” by welcoming everyone from all walks of life and sharing God’s love with one another and with our neighbors. After serving Calvary United Methodist Church in Ambler for 10 years, I arrived here at Swarthmore on June 21st , 2013.  As a newcomer to our church, I can testify to how welcoming this congregation was.
I was born and grew up in South Korea. After earning my Bachelor of Theology degree there at the Methodist Theological School, I came to America about 21 years ago in order to enroll in Seminary at the Drew Theological School. I earned my Master of Divinity degree from Drew and am currently working on my dissertation toward completion of my Doctor of Ministry degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. I started this program to serve those in my care more effectively. My mother lives with my brother and his family in Korea and I visit them as often as I can. Thanks to today’s marvelous technology, I feel I am not that far away from them. When I have free time, I love reading, traveling, cooking, decorating, listening to music, and watching movies.
My vision for Swarthmore Church is to be a church that continues to welcome all people regardless of gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, invites people to the love of Christ and works together in unity for the Kingdom of God.
